Warm Your Tummy with Chili

Want something warm and healthy to feed your family this weekend? Try this healthy chili -

How to make this easy and nutritious chili:

28 ounce can crushed tomatoes
14 ounce can diced tomatoes ( like Rotel )
2 tablespoons chili powder
1 tablespoon ground cumin
2 teaspoons smoked paprika
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup filtered water.
2 Tablespoons Olive Oil
2 large sweet potatoes, peeled and chopped into 1” pieces
1 medium onion, coarsely chopped
1 Red Pepper chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
15 ounce can dark kidney beans ( drained and well rinsed )
15 ounce can black beans ( drain and then rinse well )
1 lb ground beef sirloin - browned and drained (optional)

Save a little - soak dry beans over night and use instead of the more expensive canned beans. ( Crush some tomatoes yourself.

Add some ground flax seed ( 4 - 8 Tablespoons ) for even more nutrition!

After you brown the sirloin and drain the grease - pour a couple tablespoons of Olive oil in the bottom of your Crockpot.
Then add the browned beef and the chopped sweet potatoes and red pepper and onion. Add the rest of your ingredients. Give it a good stir or two.

Cook on low for 8 - 10 hours.

Or in a large soup pot on the stove for 3 hours on low heat.

This heart healthy chili is sure to warm your tummy on a cold Winter's night!
